The renowned player and builder Teje Wijnterp is making some of the world's most innovative electric guitars, and Bluedog is excited to announce we are now a dealer of Teye Guitars. Unique in their artistry, with a fusion of inlay and and etched metallic elements that creates a distinctive style across a range of instruments, Teye has established a signature look that pushes traditional boundaries. But the spectacular design elements of Teye Guitars is only half the story.
The real revelation is in the sonic capabilities of the proprietary Tonal Matrix Modeling of the Mojo control. Not only are the tones of older classic guitars readily available - Gibson Les Paul, Fender Tele or Strat - the opportunity to explore a new palette of sound is at your fingertips. The circuitry is entirely passive, and modeled on the principles of HiFi concepts of 1930's engineering inspired by Teye's inventor father.
The genius lies in the simplicity of controls : five position selector, two volumes, one tone, one Mojo. The proprietary element lies in the blackbox circuitry that extends the parameters of what a regular pick-up configuration can offer. For the adventurous player, a Teye Guitar is a game changer, because it opens up an astounding range of tonal colors without using pedals, pre-amps, or channel switching.
Teye's roots as a builder begin with his time delving into the passion of Flamenco music and mastering the nuance of emotion when it is nothing more than wood and strings and skin. In Cordoba Spain he became part of the community and spent time in the shop of Manuel Reyes where the world's best Flamenco guitars were being built. Couple that with the mentorship of Tony Zemaitis, in the UK, and traversing the latitudes of volume from hand built tube amps to Marshall stacks, and the result was the "List of Bitchings". That list became the manifesto that compelled Teye to create the instruments that he and his team are now producing.
The Fox is the model in the Teye line-up that brings together all the elements of Teye's design philosophy in a concise package - a visit to Teye's website will reveal a gallery of instruments taken to the highest level of artistry and imagination. Sister to the Teye Coyote, the Fox allows the wood of the body to be the feature with a smaller etched aluminum plate, and a pair of Imperial Humbuckers from Jason Lollar to pick-up the sound. Even Les Paul was impressed with what Teye was conjuring up in his early days as a builder, but now a team that brings together artists from his Frysk homeland, Seville Spain, and Austin TX handcrafts each guitar with the homebase a new workshop in Nashville TN.
