The 50 Series is the top of the line in the Lowden range, employing master grade tone-woods and the finest of appointments with upgrades in the rosette, back-strip, fretboard extension, and book-matched face plate and back plate on the headstock.
The Sinker Redwood soundboard on this guitar shows an outstanding depth of colour and texture that mirrors the complexity of tone that results from the aging process that occurred while submerged : Redwood logs were used to create river dams in the mid nineteenth century, during the off-season, and then dynamited in the spring to move the logs for milling. Those logs trapped in the silt remained there until late last century when they began to be retrieved by enterprising individuals in search of unique tone-woods.
