Lovingly referred to as a "Jumbo Shrimp" by David Webber, this 'mid-sized' jumbo guitar bears the special appointments that David utilized on a series of ten guitars when he had reached production number one thousand. Not only did he select master grade wood for the soundbox, abalone was employed for both the top trim and rosette, snakewood binding for the soundbox, fretboard, and headstock, ebony faceplate, and deluxe Waverly open-backed tuners.
With a smaller waist than a regular jumbo, it feels like more of an OM to play, but the longer scale and size of the soundbox give it a large presence, maximizing the bass register with the focused clarity of the maple back and sides, while harnessing the potential of the Englemann Spruce top for volume and attack.
A truly unique build from one of the finest luthiers on the Westcoast - and contrary to rumours otherwise, he is still alive and well, with occasional sightings in extreme backcountry locales.
