SOLD - Lowden Guitars 40th Anniversary O50 in African Blackwood/Redwood
George calls this one "A Monster!" 40th Anniversary Lowden O50 in Master Grade African Blackwood with Redwood top & Highlander IP-2 pick-up. This guitar is #36 out of 100.
The O is the largest size Lowden body, sought after for its bass and overtones. It has traditionally been the preferred choice for finger-style and open tuning. It has a deep and resonant tone.
African Blackwood/Redwood is arguably George's favourite wood combinations. We feel this is one of the most exciting wood combinations for the finger-stylist, and coupled with the Lowden design, it offers exceptional depth and complexity of tone. Lowden's stock of Redwood is the best available, coming from naturally fallen trees and chosen for tonal response. Redwood always surprises with its clarity, depth, sustain and volume, and can handle a more aggressive attack than Cedar. And African Blackwood has it all: very pure, very powerful, very defined, very clear, and very balanced!
The 40th Anniversary Limited Edition guitars are a unique collection of 100 instruments hand built in celebration of George Lowden's 40th anniversary year of guitar making. George has personally chosen all the woods and bracing sets for these guitars, as well as voiced and hand-carved the dolphin profile, closed the soundbox and overseen the final set up of each guitar. These 40th Anniversary guitars also feature a specially designed label and 40th anniversary inlay, and come with a photographic record book chronicling each build. A commemorative provenance document bearing the signatures of all the craftspeople involved also accompanies the guitar.
