Since Bluedog owner Jenn got her new Brazilian Rosewood Wee Lowden, her 2013 Lowden S50 Guitar in gorgeous Master Grade African Blackwood with a Redwood top and Soundbox Bevel has been neglected as the Wee is a better size for her. George Lowden personally made the bevel on this guitar as it was the first S to ever get one!
African Blackwood/Redwood is arguably George Lowden's favourite wood combination. We feel this is one of the most exciting wood combinations for the finger-stylist, and coupled with the Lowden design, it offers exceptional depth and complexity of tone. Lowden's stock of Redwood is the best available, coming from naturally fallen trees and chosen for tonal response. Redwood always surprises with its clarity, depth, sustain and volume, and can handle a more aggressive attack than Cedar. And African Blackwood has it all: very pure, very powerful, very defined, very clear, and very balanced!
The Lowden S body is a small-body guitar, about the size of a 00. It is arguably the loudest Lowden, noted for its clarity and definition with a very focused projection.
